Ukrainian mother and daughter's journey of love, displacement, loss in the midst of war
Katerina found a place to stay in one of the Dnipro collective centers of the NGO “Pomogaem”, World Vision's local partner, after fleeing war torn-Nikolopol, east part of Ukraine. The father of her two children, Katerina’s husband, is serving on the frontline now. Follow her story, as he navigates the hurdles of motherhood during war, displacement, and loss.

Life in the eyes of a Ukrainian child: “My only wish is for my father to return from war”
For almost two years, the reality of everyday life has changed too abruptly for nine-year-old Eva. While the war continues, Ukrainian children face daily interrupted lessons, air alarms, bombings, and an education that has been partially disrupted. Teach for Ukraine, World Vision’s local partner, conducted Diagnostic and Proficiency Assessments (DAPAs) that evaluated Ukrainian children’s literacy and numeracy skills individually to avoid and uncover learning gaps.

The impact and needs of the elderly and vulnerable as the war in Ukraine marks second year
Elena, 64, endured 21 days of bombardment in hiding in Luhansk region. She starts her life from scratch in Dnipro, where she suffers a heart attack and faces the ongoing hardships imposed by war. World Vision's multi-purpose cash assistance, supported by Aktion Deutschland Hilft, enables her to meet her daily financial obligations, covering a part of her medical bills.
