World Vision Mozambique
World Vision began operating in Mozambique in 1983, providing humanitarian assistance to thousands of displaced people during the civil war. In 1992, after the signing of a peace agreement, World Vision supported the resettlement of 1.5 million refugees and remained committed to serving communities – especially Mozambican children – in building a better future.
Since then, the organisation has been adapting its internationally proven approaches to address poverty and injustice within the Mozambican context. By partnering with others to support the country’s development and tackle ongoing challenges, while continuously exploring new strategies to meet the needs of the most vulnerable, World Vision has played an active role in improving the well-being of millions of children across the country.
Over the years, through our unwavering commitment to the children of Mozambique, we have shared proven, world-class development methods that bring food, clean water, education, and economic transformation. By working with communities to protect children from violence and neglect, responding in emergencies, and challenging everyday injustices, we help build empowered communities capable of creating real, lasting change.
During our previous strategy cycle (2016–2020), we positively impacted the lives of 3.8 million children in Mozambique through initiatives in education, health and nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods, child protection, and emergency response. Under our current strategy – Our Promise 2021-2025 – World Vision in Mozambique aims to make measurable, sustainable, and significant contributions to the well-being of 4 million vulnerable children by 2025.
