On the eve of the start of this year's 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, World Vision is excited about the launch of mobile state courts in northern Mozambique to help improve access to justice where distance, costs and other factors were previously a hindrance.

This initiative is set to help improve access to justice for underprivileged girls and boys, as well as other vulnerable groups.

Situation increasingly critical amongst displaced children, warns World Vision

Mozambique is at risk of being overwhelmed by a children's trauma crisis as thousands of girls and boys flee a brutal insurgency where they have witnessed traumatic events. More than 800,000 people have now fled their homes in Cabo Delgado in the north of the country, where non-state armed groups are brutalising the population with atrocities that are emotionally scarring children and leaving them as orphans.

Restoring children's dreams in cyclone and COVID-19 affected areas

Anyone looking at the beautiful smiles of 10-year-old Laurinda and nine-year-old Jorge could never imagine that these children had their dreams threatened by life's circumstances. Their unemployed mother gave them to child labour in another family to help with the household expenses, which have become a burden on them since the death of the head of the family five years ago; not helped by the devastation left behind by cyclones Idai and Eloise. Thanks to a partnership between World Vision and USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID-BHA), they have a reason to smile again.

Mozambique

Limited access to clean water and proper sanitation facilities, insufficient and/or irregular supplies of food and poor hygiene practices put many children at risk, physically, every day. At the same time, low literacy levels coupled with high rates of child abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence make it difficult for many children to live life to their fullest, achieve their dreams and prepare for their future.

Our teams of dedicated development professionals have been working in Mozambique since 1983 to build a better world for children, their families and their communities. We partner with parents, like-minded organizations, faith leaders and the government to address the underlying causes of poverty and injustice in order to build a better world for all children in Mozambique.
