Preventing the spread of COVID-19 in Mauritania through hand-washing

World Vision is concerned about the impact that the COVID-19 health crisis will have on the poorest and most vulnerable, and the risk it poses to already stretched basic social services and other pre-existing challenges. We are determined to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and reduce its impact on vulnerable children and families. Proper hand-washing can reduce the spread of COVID-19 within communities.

Mauritania

Poor rainfall, traditional agricultural techniques and customs coupled with a lack of understanding about the importance of birth registration, put millions of children at risk every day.

Our teams are working with communities to address the roots of vulnerability and injustice. We do this every day by monitoring the health and well-being of children to stop malnutrition before it starts, by educating parents on proper feeding techniques and equipping parents to be able to provide for the needs of their families. We are also partnering with schools and the Ministry of Education to ensure all children can access quality educational opportunities.

Finally, we are also working with faith leaders and the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs in a joint campaign to stop child marriage.
