Displaced family

What is happening in Haiti?

Since February 29, 2024, Haiti faces a humanitarian crisis following a series of coordinated attacks by gangs that have paralyzed and isolated the capital, Port-au-Prince. These events have plunged the population into a situation of extreme vulnerability, with basic services cut off, food prices skyrocketing, and thousands of families displaced from their homes

Haiti's crisis didn't happen overnight. It took 200+ years of political exploitation, environmental destruction, and compounding disasters to get here — and understanding that history is the only way to make sense of what's happening today.
