Adela Softic: Former refugee from Bosnia and Herzegovina now a humanitarian in the Ukraine crisis
Adela and her family left Sarajevo after more than eleven months of living in the city’s shelters, unaware that she would only return after ten years. “I took only two things, my dog and a diary of all my teenage memories of a peaceful Bosnia.”

Comfort in a Cup of Coffee
Safi, whose education was interrupted in Afghanistan wants to become a doctor and help women and children, and she was joyous to hear of the opportunity to practice her spoken English and learn a bit of the local language while having coffee with locals. Language classes and community meetings are a part of the World Vision BiH programme providing mental health and psychosocial support to migrants and refugees in BiH, and build empathy and solidary among refugee and local population. These activities are supported through the regional GIZ project “Social participation of people on the move and local population in host regions of the Western Balkans”.

Faith based action against gender-based violence

World Vision is taking innovative approach, uniting with religious communities and leaders to address the problem at its roots. our research shows that boys and girls hold rigid views and adhere to prescribed gender roles. with this action, we aim to change harmful societal norms.

A young refugee tries to find a safe heaven and protection in the countries of the European Union. His harrowing journey to safety takes years. On the move, he stays in refugee camps. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, World Vision and GIZ offer activities that rekindle hope for refugees. Near Sarajevo, this young man starts playing footbal in the local club.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Capacity Statement
Our presence in Somalia since 1993 has enabled us to establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the WASH sector. This includes the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MoEWR), a crucial partner, as well as other line ministries at federal, regional and state levels, the private sector, local partners, the Somalia WASH Cluster, UN agencies, and community actors. We have worked collaboratively to expand access to quality water, sanitation and hygiene services.
