The eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is facing a dire humanitarian situation as violence has forced over 135,000 people from the Masisi territory to flee to the city of Goma. These internally displaced persons are fleeing clashes between the DRC's armed forces and the M23 rebel group. The surge of violence since December 2023 has severely restricted humanitarian activities, affecting nearly 700,000 displaced individuals in the region.
