Three Months On: Myanmar Earthquake Response Report (June 2025)

Three months have passed since the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on 28 March 2025, yet humanitarian conditions remain critical. Early rains have further deteriorated the living situation for many children and families still residing in makeshift shelters, struggling to rebuild their lives. Access to clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and protection services, particularly for those displaced in Mandalay and Sagaing, remains dire. The earthquake compounds an already dire humanitarian situation where nearly 20 million people already needed humanitarian assistance across the country due to prolonged conflict, recurring natural disasters and economic collapse.

DR Congo: A Campaign for the Unconditional Return of All Children to School in Kasaï Central

This article highlights the launch, in Kasaï Central, of an awareness campaign initiated by World Vision and its partners to ensure the unconditional return of all children to school. Running throughout September 2025, the initiative focuses on mobilising parents, community leaders, and local authorities, particularly in the areas of Tshikula and Tshimbulu where dropout rates remain worrying. Implemented under the Tudisange bua Kalasa mu Kasaï Central project with support from the European Union, the campaign includes awareness sessions, community dialogues, and mobilisation activities designed to remove barriers to schooling, especially for girls, and to promote inclusive and equitable education.

With a fatality rate of 57%, the organization warns of urgent humanitarian needs and is working with partners to assess the situation. Drawing on experience from past Ebola responses in DRC, Uganda, and West Africa, World Vision calls for immediate donor funding, better community engagement, and stronger regional coordination to contain the outbreak and prevent its spread.
