DR Congo: A Campaign for the Unconditional Return of All Children to School in Kasaï Central

“No child should stay at home while others are learning.” With this strong conviction, World Vision, together with other partners, has launched a large-scale awareness campaign to ensure the unconditional return of all children to school in the province of Kasaï Central.
The campaign, officially launched on 1 September 2025 by the Provincial Minister of Education and New Citizenship, will run throughout the month. It aims to mobilise parents, community leaders, and local authorities to guarantee an inclusive and equitable return to school, especially for vulnerable children.
This initiative is part of the “Tudisange bua Kalasa mu Kasaï Central” (TKK) project, implemented by World Vision with the financial support of the European Union. Interventions are focusing primarily on the areas of Tshikula and Tshimbulu, where dropout rates remain particularly alarming, affecting many children from disadvantaged families.
“This campaign is a direct response to the obstacles that still prevent too many children, especially girls, from going back to school. We want every parent to understand that education is a right, not an option,” stressed Justin Kandala, Manager of the TKK project.
Throughout September, a range of activities will be organised, including:
- Community awareness sessions, reminding families of the importance of education;
- Dialogues with local leaders, aimed at overcoming social, economic, and cultural barriers to schooling;
- Mass mobilisation events, to involve the entire community in defending the right to education.
Beyond the immediate return to school, the campaign seeks to reduce inequalities in access to education in a sustainable way and to give every child the opportunity to build a brighter future. It also serves as a call for collective responsibility: families, communities, authorities, and partners must join forces to ensure that no child in Kasaï Central is left behind.
