Building a safer digital world for children and youth in Albania
World Vision Albania, in partnership with the National Cyber Security Authority, is taking concrete steps to strengthen online protection for children and young people.
As part of this collaboration, 47 professionals have been certified after completing training in digital safety. These professionals will work directly with children and young people to promote the safe and responsible use of technology.
On 5 September, a ceremony was held in Tirana to award these professionals with certificates. The ceremony was attended by Ms Floreta Faber, Deputy Director of NCSA, and Ms Eljona Elmazi, Executive Director of World Vision Albania. The event also featured an open discussion on the challenges of ensuring online safety in today’s rapidly evolving digital space.
“By working together with partners like World Vision Albania, we are investing in stronger awareness, better protection, and a future where children and young people can explore the digital world safely,” said Floreta Faber, Deputy Director of the National Cyber Security Authority.
Professionals on the frontline of digital safety
The certified professionals, most of them teachers, come from Dibra, Durrës, Kamza, Tirana, and Korça. All of them volunteer as youth group leaders for World Vision Albania. They have already been sharing their knowledge with hundreds of children and young people in our programmes, both in communities and schools.
Their awareness sessions focus on:
- The positive use of technology and the protection of personal data
- Types of online threats and risks of personal data hacking
- The challenges of the digital age and safe online communication
- The role of the National Cyber Security Authority in child and youth protection, including reporting mechanisms
Empowering young leaders
With the skills and knowledge they have gained, members of World Vision Albania’s IMPACT youth groups are not only learning how to protect themselves online, but are also supporting and educating their peers to prevent and report risks while navigating the digital world.
“Children and young people are among the most active internet users, but also among the most vulnerable,” said Eljona Elmazi, Executive Director of World Vision Albania. “Through this partnership, we are equipping both professionals and young leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to create a safer digital environment for everyone.”
A stronger partnership for the future
The collaboration between World Vision Albania and the National Cyber Security Authority will continue to deepen, with the shared goal of building a safe and secure cyber ecosystem for children and young people in Albania.
