We also invite our global community to join us in prayer. The challenges facing the world’s most vulnerable children—especially the ongoing hunger crisis—are far too great to address through human effort alone. Through prayer, we seek God’s wisdom, strength, and transformation.

Colombia

Pray for World Vision Colombia following the flood’s emergency in Córdoba and La Guajira. Pray for safety, provision, and hope to all experiencing loss. Pray for staff, volunteers, and partners, that God would grant them wisdom, strength, and compassion as they bring relief and restoration.

Pray for God’s protection over humanitarian workers, food convoys, and vulnerable children and families in Sudan facing famine in North Darfur, Greater Kordofan, and South Kordofan. Pray for safety, unimpeded access, and God’s intervention so lifesaving food and aid reach those in urgent need. Pray for God to provide courage and strength for World Vision staff and partners during this challenging time

The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, due mostly to the on-going context since 2023. Pray for God’s provision as our office is appealing for $1millon in additional support to meet the growing needs. 

Praying Together: WVI Internal Prayer Initiative 

As followers of Jesus Christ, the leaders and staff of World Vision have deep confidence in the power of prayer. Prayer is not only a spiritual discipline—it is central to our mission and calling. Jesus reminds us that “apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). For this reason, we depend on prayer to guide our service, shape our hearts, and sustain our hope as we seek God’s wisdom, provision, and transforming work among the world’s most vulnerable children.

Throughout the year, the World Vision Partnership gathers in prayer in several ways. Our Annual Day of Prayer invites staff globally to pause, worship, repent, and intercede as we begin the new fiscal year. Quarterly President’s Prayer Gatherings, led by World Vision International President and CEO Andrew Morley, unite the Partnership in praying for shared priorities and global challenges through themes such as Advent, Lent, and global prayer events. Staff are also invited to join daily 15-minute prayer times with colleagues worldwide, using the WVI Prayer App—a multilingual digital space that provides Scripture reflections, daily prayer requests, and stories of God at work, helping our global community stay connected in prayer anytime, anywhere.

Why World Vision Prays with the Church

Prayer lies at the heart of this partnership. Through prayer we seek Gods action in the world, we advocate before the world’s highest authority to intervene and make a way, often where things seem impossible. In prayer we also become more attentive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, who leads us into truth, compassion, and faithful action. Prayer shapes not only what we do, but how we do it—forming us as people who participate in the reconciling work of Christ and who seek to reflect the life of the Kingdom of God in the world.

As an international partnership of Christians, World Vision depends on prayer to sustain our staff, guide our decisions, and empower communities as together we join in the mission of God, especially alongside children and those most vulnerable.

Prayer Themes

 

Church leaders are invited to pray with us around these enduring themes:

 

Attentiveness to the Holy Spirit
Pray that World Vision staff and our church partners would be guided by the Holy Spirit, growing in wisdom, discernment, and humility as we seek to recognise and join in God’s prior work in every context.

The Reconciling Work of Christ
Pray that our work would bear witness to Christ’s reconciling love, healing broken relationships, restoring dignity, and nurturing peace within hearts, minds and communities marked by injustice or division.

Partnership with Churches
Pray that relationships between World Vision and churches would be marked by trust, mutual learning, and courage, encouraging one another toward deeper and more faithful participation in God’s mission.

Empowered Communities and Faithful Witness
Pray that children, families, and communities would be strengthened and empowered, and that together we would promote human transformation, seek justice, and joyfully realise the good news of the Kingdom of God and Lordship of Christ.

Shared Journey of Transformation
Pray that God would help us imagine, with Him, how the world ought to be, granting us the courage to walk boldly in hope, shaped by prayer and sustained by grace.

Humanitarian Action Prayer: Christ of the storm.

Christ of the storm,
You stand where the waters churn and the ground feels unsteady.
You are already present in places of loss, fear, and fracture.

Teach us to see clearly.
Root our attention in the material needs before us - 
food shared, shelter raised, wounds tended - 
and open our vision to the deeper forces at work,
that shape life and death.

Jesus, in whom all is revealed,
give us eyes to recognise what destroys life
and courage to name it truthfully.
Give us imagination to glimpse the world as it ought to be
when chaos gives way to light.

As we stand in the storm,
we do not stand alone.
Though today we may mourn, we do so together. 
As God's image bearers, we feel the burdens of our world.
As followers of Jesus, we know gladness in communion.
We are blessed, for in our mourning we are comforted.

Help us defend life where it is most threatened,
to push back the forces of death,
and to act with hope that moves beyond despair.

Hover over us, Spirit of God,
as you hovered over the waters at creation.
Speak again: Let there be light.
Breathe life into dry places, beat swords into ploughshares
and strengthen us to walk faithfully
until life is restored.

We entrust ourselves, our work, and those we serve
to You, Christ our hope,
today and always.
