From a Tree to a Classroom: How World Vision is giving children a chance for a better future through education in Sinanzongwe
Until 2018, children of Maiya village in Sinazongwe district of Zambia had to walk at least six kilometres to the nearest school, which was too far.
This prompted Givas Gwerere of the same village to form a school and volunteer to teach the children. With the community’s support, he started a community school with 250 children who used to learn under a tree. The growing number of children in his village motivated Givas to open a community school to give them (children) a chance to learn.
