When water comes home: Partnering to supply hope in Mauritania
In the peri‑urban neighborhoods of Riyad and Dar El Beida in Mauritania, access to safe drinking water has long been unreliable. To respond to this challenge, World Vision worked with local communities and its top ten private‑sector service providers to bring clean water directly into homes.
Children like nine-year-old Halima, who used to have to carry 20 litre jerrycans every morning, now have the freedom to focus on school.

Poor rainfall, traditional agricultural techniques and customs coupled with a lack of understanding about the importance of birth registration, put millions of children at risk every day.
Our teams are working with communities to address the roots of vulnerability and injustice. We do this every day by monitoring the health and well-being of children to stop malnutrition before it starts, by educating parents on proper feeding techniques and equipping parents to be able to provide for the needs of their families. We are also partnering with schools and the Ministry of Education to ensure all children can access quality educational opportunities.
Finally, we are also working with faith leaders and the Ministry of Family and Social Affairs in a joint campaign to stop child marriage.
