IT TAKES A WORLD TO...

...END VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN

Violence is the world’s worst crime against children. It happens in every country, city and community.

Since COVID-19 has swept across the globe, children are faced with new threats to their safety and well-being. Around the globe, children are experiencing a major spike in physical, emotional and sexual violence, both now and in the months and years to come.

Whether they are forced to stay at home, or, in time, are sent to work or pushed into early marriage, boys and girls face a bleak future – unless ordinary people, governments, UN agencies, donors, NGOs, and the private sector do everything they can now to protect them.

FACTS: 1 in 9 girls marry before they turn 15. More than 650 million women alive today were married before the age of 18. Each year, another 15 million girls under the age of 18 become child brides... Child brides aren’t the only ones harmed by child marriage. Communities, countries, and entire generations suffer the lasting impacts of child marriage. World Vision’s work in gender equality helps societies achieve more sustainable development, faster economic growth, and better prospects for their children both for boys and girls.

But everywhere children are standing up and mobilising to end violence - children from around the world are speaking out about the challenges that they face.

We must listen and act.

Earlier this year, children and citizens signed onto a global petition asking for governments and institutions to...

“Urgently increase funding for health, education & other social services that protect children from violence during #COVID19”

...What we heard was a rally cry around the world.

NOW WE TURN TO YOU REQUESTING:

An increase in funding for health, education and other social services that protect children from all forms of violence and abuse, especially for girls and boys at greater risk due to the impacts of COVID-19

This isn't just World Vision.

These are the voices from people all around the world...

...with over 51,000 joining in.
