Open letter to address hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition
As World Hunger Day reminds us of the moral urgency of ending hunger and malnutrition, we, the World Council of Churches (WCC), Caritas Internationalis and World Vision International (WVI)—three global fellowships of churches and leading faith-based organisations—join our voices in grief, solidarity and action at a moment of profound global crisis.
Together we call for urgent, coordinated action from governments, international institutions, donors, and faith communities to address the root causes of hunger and protect those most at risk.
As churches and faith-based organizations, we are committed to walking alongside communities affected by hunger, advocating for just and sustainable food systems, and working together for a world where every child can grow, flourish and live free from hunger and malnutrition. We affirm that commitment this historic joint letter endorsed by the leadership of our organisations, including Rev. Prof. Dr Jerry Pillay, General Secretary of the World Council of Churches; Alistair Dutton, Secretary General of Caritas Internationalis; and Andrew Morley, President and CEO of World Vision International.
Together, we must ensure that there is enough for all.

On Tuesday, 9th June, WVI, WCC, and Caritas Internationalis, gathered together with peer organisations, church leaders and colleagues for a World Hunger Day webinar. Here, the open letter was shared along with the promotion of tangible ways congregations and communities can mobilise around Hunger and Nutrition, namely, the Give Your Loaves & Fish Campaign.
