Senior Technical Advisor for Education in Emergencies

Charbel is a seasoned Education Advisor with extensive humanitarian experience spanning nearly a decade. His proven dedication and effectiveness in education in emergencies, coupled with program development and quality assurance, established him as a professional in the field. Over almost five years, Charbel served as an Education Specialist and subsequently as the Program Development and Quality Director at World Vision Lebanon, where he played a pivotal role in leading and advancing Education in Emergencies (EiE) initiatives in Lebanon.

Before that, and with a significant tenure at Save the Children where he also served as an education lead, he successfully oversaw the implementation and scaling up of diverse education programs, including Basic Literacy and Numeracy (BLN), Early Childhood Education (ECE), and Community-based Non-Formal Education (NFE) in addition to other innovative approaches across Lebanon and other countries, affected by the Syria response, and other emergencies. Before his engagement in the humanitarian sphere, Charbel held roles as a teacher and head of departments, managing various elementary schools in rural areas of North Lebanon.

Charbel has a strong track record of success in education, contributing to the implementation of Unlock Literacy and CUP, initiatives that have significantly improved the reading skills of underperforming children. As a skilled trainer, he has built capacities of various teams and education personnel. Proficient in Arabic, French, English, and good in Spanish, Charbel also knows a bit of Italian and is an avid reader. In addition to his professional pursuits, he recently completed his first Half Marathon and is currently dedicated to training for a full marathon.
