On World Health Day, on the seventh of April, we celebrate the significant advancements in maternal and child health in Angola. The World Vision Angola, through the Mais e Melhor Saúde project, has been directly contributing to the reduction of neonatal and child mortality, with notable impact in the municipalities of Cazenga, Cacuaco, and Talatona.

For years, Sara Macamo and the women in her remote community faced dangerous, exhausting treks to collect unsafe water from the Limpopo River, often shared with animals and contaminated with disease. However, the installation of a borehole transformed their lives, eliminating the perilous journeys and providing easy access to clean water. This change allowed women to focus on farming and childcare, while young girls could attend school regularly, leading to improved education and hope for a better future.

While many people in the world can easily access water from multiple points in their homes, this is not the case for most people in remote areas of Zambia. For 18-year-old Patricia Keem-be, she’s never known clean water to be close to home.

As the Ukraine Crisis Response enters its fourth year, the impact of war continues to devastate the lives of millions, particularly children.
