Severe drought and ongoing conflict continue to drive humanitarian needs for more than 6.3 million Afghans, more than half of whom are children. Drought has affected more than two-thirds of all Afghans, triggering crisis level food insecurity and pushing hundreds of thousands of the most vulnerable out of areas of origin to seek emergency assistance. Currently, WVA’s 590 staff members are implementing 22 humanitarian projects and responding to the needs of over 434,672 conflict and drought affected people across Herat and Badghis.
