Antonio Santana Dias
Technical Director, Health and Nutrition
Dr António Santana Dias is a Mozambican medical doctor and global public health and nutrition leader. He has over 16 years of experience supporting health and nutrition programmes across Africa and Asia, working closely with governments and international partners to strengthen health systems and improve service delivery in resource-constrained settings.
His technical expertise spans nutrition, infectious diseases, immunisation, and outbreak preparedness and response. He has extensive experience supporting Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), infant and young child feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E), and integrated community health approaches. He is also a certified trainer in Positive Deviance/Hearth.
Dr. Dias has supported major emergency responses, including leading World Vision's health and nutrition emergency response to Cyclone Idai in Southern Africa in 2019. Previously, he managed an ECHO-funded integrated emergency project in Angola, combining nutrition, agriculture, and WASH interventions.
He is also an experienced researcher and monitoring and evaluation specialist. He is trained as a SMART survey manager with extensive experience leading baseline, endline, and operational research studies. He served as Monitoring and Evaluation Global Lead for the Right2Grow consortium, a large-scale nutrition advocacy initiative implemented across Africa and Asia.
Dr Dias is a member of the World Health Organization emergency roster.
