We have launched a milestone initiative to transform 50 most vulnerable schools across the 25 districts of Sri Lanka in 50 weeks. School is where a child spends 12 years of their childhood, growing, learning, and becoming who they are meant to be. There are over 10,000 schools in Sri Lanka and yet many still lack the facilities needed to support children’s holistic growth.
This project will work with the education authorities, the selected schools, students, and the communities to ensure sustainability and ownership.
Here’s how you can be a part of it

I have visited about 300 to 400 schools in 20 out of 25 districts in our country. For me, it is quite sad to say that these schools does not even have the basic facilities.
The project completion

Celebrations will take place across all 50 schools, highlighting student achievement, community spirit, and the impact of partnerships.

Education is the greatest investment we can make for the future.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is World Vision Lanka fundraising? Don't you get money from overseas?
Even though World Vision Lanka traditionally relied on funding from overseas, with our new strategy, our programmes are going to be focusing on only one sector that has the most pressing needs in each area where we work. The overseas funding will focus on these programmes.
However, since there are lots of vulnerable people in need, who may not qualify for our traditional programmes, we are reaching out to those who can and are willing to help support them. The fundraising portal will help us enhance our support system and enable us to support more families.
How do I know my money is not wasted?
Accountability is key to World Vision and your trust in us is of utmost importance. If you donate to a project, you will be updated about how the funds have been utilised.
Before we publish a need or a project on this portal, World Vision does a thorough assessment of the needs of the individual/family. We work with the individual/family in the plan of fulfilling the need.
World Vision team will also monitor the use of the funds and the progress.
