Daniel Kefela serves as a Humanitarian Policy Advisor, providing strategic guidance and policy analysis to support humanitarian operations and advocacy efforts. With a strong commitment to principled humanitarian action, Daniel works closely with leadership and field teams to ensure policies are responsive to evolving crises and grounded in evidence and best practice.

Daniel brings over a decade of rich experience spanning journalism, strategic communications, and humanitarian advocacy. Most recently, he served as Communications Manager for Food and Cash Programming at World Vision Ethiopia, where he led high-level advocacy, policy messaging, and external engagement for large-scale humanitarian operations funded by the US Government (USAID) and WFP.

He played a key role in the Global CAT III Northern Ethiopia Crisis Response (NECR), serving as part of the leadership team. His work supported humanitarian diplomacy and communication efforts aimed at addressing access constraints and protection risks in one of the most complex emergency settings in the region. His close collaboration with UN agencies, donors, and inter-agency coordination bodies has strengthened WV’s presence and influence on critical issues affecting children and vulnerable communities.

He holds MAs in Public Relations & Communication Strategy from Addis Abeba University and Global Studies & International Relations from New Generation University, along with several certifications in disaster management, humanitarian advocacy, and protection standards.
