I am a practicing pediatrician at Mulago National referral hospital, Kampala for the last 20 years and an epidemiologist for the last 15 years. I have been actively involved in clinical and social research for last 12 years. My research has mainly focused on pediatric tuberculosis (TB) and gastroenterology. I have been the head of the Pediatrics TB unit of Mulago Hospital for the last fifteen years. 

I am member of the Uganda National Pediatrics TB committee for the last 10 years and the current Chair. I have been involved in formulating the Uganda National pediatric TB Treatment Guidelines, formulating pediatric TB training materials and conducting in-service pediatric TB training and mentorships. I have a strong background in clinical epidemiology (MS, Makerere University, 2008) and training in evidence-based medicine (Institute of Tropical Medicine (Belgium, 2008).

I have been site Principal Investigator for several research studies; epidemiological, clinical trials operational and diagnostic studies. I have published over 10 articles 3 of which as first author and 3 as senior author. I have mentored and supervised research thesis of up to 10 paediatric postgraduate students. 

I have the skills and competences in the following areas; - Research formulation, execution and data analysis both quantitative and qualitative using STATA, R and SPSS statistical packages, developing databases in excel, access, Epi Info and EpiData. Provision of specialised paediatric care, Research papers and grants writing Research project management for both small and complex multi-site or multi-country research projects. 

Coaching, supervising and mentoring health workers, Formulating and reviewing health-related policy documents and guidelines.
