
Sibonginkosi Gugulethu Mungoni
Sibonginkosi Mungoni is a Senior Advisor for Livelihoods and Economic Recovery in Emergencies at World Vision International, based in the Global Centre Disaster Management Unit. With over 15 years of experience in humanitarian and development work, Sibonginkosi has led large-scale resilience and food security programs across Africa and the Middle East. She is a seasoned humanitarian and development professional with over 20 years of experience leading resilience, food security, and climate adaptation programming across Africa, the Middle East, and global platforms. As Senior Advisor for Livelihoods and Economic Recovery in Emergencies, she plays a pivotal role in shaping global strategy, driving innovation, and embedding resilience in humanitarian operations.
She is a member of the Food Cash and Marketing team, providing technical leadership in large-scale CAT III emergencies and protracted crises. Sibonginkosi has successfully led multi-country initiatives, secured donor funding, and developed integrated programming models that link livelihoods with WASH, nutrition and child protection. Her work is grounded in a deep understanding of fragile contexts, community engagement, and resilient livelihoods. She represents World Vision in global forums such as the Global Food Security Cluster, Anticipatory Action Working Group, and Agriculture Technical Working Group, influencing policy and practice at the highest levels.
Sibonginkosi is also a thought leader in disaster risk reduction, early livelihoods recovery, resilience, and inclusive economic recovery, with a strong track record in capacity building, strategy development, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Her passion lies in transforming humanitarian programming into sustainable, locally driven solutions that empower communities and build long-term resilience.
Sibonginkosi holds a Master’s in International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid, a Postgraduate Certificate in Protection of Internally Displaced Persons and a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Biological Sciences
