Friday, September 28, 2018

The sub-prefecture of DAMARA, 75 km from Bangui, is located in the Prefecture of the Ombella MPoko. 42 998 inhabitants (according to demographic data expected for 2018) and wide of 8000 km², Damara was the last city crossed by the rebellion Séléka before taking the power in Bangui in March, 2013. In Central African Republic (CAR), through the project of World Vision called “Children as Peace builders”  and the community members support led by their leaders, the children were rescued, rehabilitated, and enrolled in peace clubs. Some returned to school while those who were beyond schooling years were enrolled in vocational training.

Lionel in this video is one of many children very grateful to World Vision for starting such a project in their community that provides a safe space for them to spend most of their days playing, learning, and socializing with each other.
