Overview Course Information

This eWorkshop is a 9-week course for field staff and partners who want to become certified Channels of Hope Facilitators and use the skills acquired to conduct local-level workshops with faith communities, as part of ongoing programming. Ideally, participants who enroll in this eWorkshop should have either formal theological training and knowledge or formal training in the related technical curricula area (i.e., child protection, gender, etc.)

Who is this course for?

This course is for field staff and partners who want to become certified as Channels of Hope Child Protection and use the skills acquired to conduct local-level workshops with faith communities, as part of ongoing programming. What will I learn?

Participants will learn how to facilitate CoH Child Protection workshops, including minimum related technical information and how to navigate challenging theological issues; they are also mentored in facilitation skills. 

  • Grapple with the cultural complexities of local child protection drivers and enablers
  • Explore associated technical information
  • Explore how to prevent child protection violations with a special focus on positive discipline
  • Provide a faith-ethical response, including exploring associated theology, for the care and protection of children
  • Build the faith community’s competence to respond

Length and time commitment
  • 9 eWorkshop weeks
  • 5-7 hours of work per course week, including a weekly 90-minute synchronous Zoom session
Course Fee
  • The course fee for individual registration is USD 500.
  • Group Discounts: Group of 4-9 = $425 / Group of 10 and above = $400.

Support

A team of subject-matter expert facilitators and a course manager will guide the group through the materials. You will also learn from the experiences and perspectives of other participants from around the world. 

Accessibility and technology
  • You will receive a course login and link at least one week before the start of the eWorkshop.
  • Regular Internet access is required to participate. (Low bandwidth is OK.)
  • The course can be accessed via a mobile app, but a computer is preferred.
Deadline and certification requirements

Deadlines

  • For each weekly module, you will have a set of tasks to complete, but you can choose when to log in and contribute within the set weekly timeframe.

Certification

  • Must complete all activities
  • Attend all synchronous Zoom sessions (unless excused from the e-Facilitation team)
  • Submit pre-training assignments,
  • Pass both Written Assessment A and Written Assessment B
  •  Complete two practical facilitations with ratings from a group of peers.

I have registered and paid, but now I am unavailable to join the course. Can I receive a refund?

For World Vision-sponsored participants, internal communication with the WV Office will be conducted to arrange course fee coverage and refund where necessary.

For implementing or external partners who are self-funding:

  • The course fee is fully refundable if the course has not yet started.
  • No refunds will be issued if a participant remains inactive beyond week 2 and is subsequently removed, unless extenuating circumstances apply. 
  • Participants who do not successfully complete the eWorkshop will not be eligible for a refund.
