Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI), a partner of World Vision, cares about child rights and allowing them to expressing themselves. Therefore, WVI assists local youth through the Teen Creative Group. Through this group, teenagers are allowed to express their talent and creativity.

In Nias, North Sumatra, one of the WVI-assisted areas, the activity is carried out in villages and adjusted to local youth interest. There are 26 active groups participating in different subjects like cosmetology, culinary arts, tailoring, sports, hair-trimming, and others.

These activities bring many positive effects. Youth are able to learn about how to involve in a team atmosphere. In culinary arts, they learn how to be independent and confident by marketing their own handmade cakes both in and out of the village.

One of the teen creative groups from Hilimayo, North Mandrehe, West Nias regency started their program in May 2014. The Hilimayo Teen Creative Group has carried out several cooking activities and produced some delightful cakes, including sponge cake and steamed sponge cake. The teens were even asked to prepare cakes for several village meetings.
