Welcome to Benkoko's Integrated Service Post!

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

Benkoko village is located in Central Insana district, North Central Timor. Previously this village has never been provided with any health service facilities because it is located in a remote area, 18 km away from Letmafo village office. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children under five years old didn't have access to reach health services.

In December 2011, Wahana Visi Indonesia in North Central Timor held a program called Children's Voice and Citizen Acts for Health Rights (SAHABAT). The program was carried out through training sessions from February 25, 2012 until April 2012. SAHABAT cadres, Letmafo village government, and the Public Health Center (Puskesmas) in Maubesi were assisted by Wahana Visi Indonesia to train people in Benkoko.

The training included standard monitoring activities and using assessment cards. And the result? Community members initiated the formation of an Integrated Service Post (Posyandu) in Benkoko so the people could access health service easier and closer.

Daniel Afu Us, 45, ex Letmafo's chief of village really welcomes Posyandu in Benkoko because now people can get actually receive health services. Everyone has better health access.

With the good cooperation of village government, sub-district government, Puskesmas, cadres of SAHABAT, Wahana Visi Indonesia, and Benkoko people, the health service in Benkoko is getting better.

Started on September 9, 2012, the activities of Posyandu Benkoko are still running today for Benkoko' children and mothers.
