1. Tony Rinaudo, Senior Climate Action Advisor, World Vision Australia 

Tony will release a new World Vision report “Restore Land, Restore Hope” at Evidence to Scale-up: A Community-led Natural Climate Solution to Regreen the Globe on Thursday, 16 November in the Osiris Room at 15:00-16:30. The event is led by World Vision with the Rainforest Alliance   

 Tony is at COP27 to make the case that Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) is a far more effective technique than spending millions in tree-planting reforestation. FMNR, an evidence-based approach of re-greening degraded landscapes that uses simple tree pruning techniques to achieve rapid, low-cost, and scalable outcomes, rehabilitation of forest. Known as “The Forest Maker,” on FMNR since 1983, Tony has revived millions of hectares from desolate dry ground to thriving arable land across more than twenty countries in Africa. This rehabilitation brings with it increased food security and sustainability for thousands of communities. Rinaudo’s work has earned him numerous awards and accolades including being named a 2018 Right Livelihood Laureate (often referred to as the “Alternative Nobel Prize”).

2. Clovis Tougma of World Vision Niger (interviews in English or en Francais) 

Mr. Tougma can discuss how climate change is affecting Niger and the West African Sahelian region’s food, water, increasing conflict and vulnerability to children and their communities.  

 With 10-years' experience in the humanitarian and development sector in west and central Africa. He is a Business development expert with experience working with donors including USAID, the EU, GAC, UN Agencies, DFID. Clovis has a Masters Degree in Project Management with experience in leading project in a vast range of sector including WASH, Protection, and Climate Change.

Mr. Tougma travaille avec World Vision au Niger et peut discuter de comment le changement climatique affecte le Niger, et les solutions potentielles, incluant la Régénération Naturelle Assistée (RNA/FMNR).   

  Avec 10 ans d'expérience dans le secteur de l'humanitaire et du développement travaillant en Afrique de l'ouest et du centre,  Clovis est expert en Business Development avec une expérience de travail avec des donateurs comme USAID, UE, GAC, les agences des Nations Unies, DFID/FCDO. Il détient un Master en Gestion de Projets et à travaillé sur des projets dans des secteurs variés incluant le WASH, la protection, le changement climatique...
