Food Flow Landscape Assessment Policy Brief
Wednesday, September 3, 2025

The BMZ Grow ENRICH Project addresses food insecurity and malnutrition across Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania.

To strengthen food systems, a Food Flow Landscape Assessment was carried out in these three countries. The study explored food systems, supply chains, and value chains, highlighting vulnerabilities, policy gaps, and opportunities to improve food security.

This policy brief identifies vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and strengths in food systems to contribute insights for the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) food and nutrition policy review and the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Biennial Review process. The brief also highlights policy recommendations based on the assessment findings, tailored to support the IGAD region within the broader African Union framework on food systems transformation.

The BMZ Grow ENRICH project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is implemented by World Vision in partnership with the Anglican Development Services – North Rift Region (ADS–NRR), the Puntland Minority Women’s Development Organisation (PMWDO), and the Kivulini Women’s Rights Organisation.
