All children have the right to a safe, inclusive and quality education. We want all children to be educated for life, in a safe and nurturing environment, in order to lead productive and fulfilling lives. 

We work hard to reach the most vulnerable children such as those in extreme poverty, with disabilities, out-of-school children, and affected by crises. Our approach fits and adapts continuously to diverse and rapidly changing contexts across the development, humanitarian and peace nexus.

We work with local partners to drive the social behaviour change required to address obstacles to children’s developmental and learning journey. In coalition with others, we strengthen education systems at household, community, national and global levels.

Around the world, children in the poorest households are twice as likely to die before their fifth birthday compared to those in wealthier households. Despite decades of progress, the most vulnerable children continue to face the same devastating health challenges. Nearly half of all under-five deaths occur during the newborn period, and preventable diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea, and malaria still claim far too many young lives. These three illnesses alone account for almost half of all under-five mortality. Children who have not received routine vaccinations – known as zero-dose children – make up nearly half of all vaccine-preventable deaths.

At World Vision, we confront these challenges head-on. Our health interventions target the leading causes of illness and death among children under five. Using family- and community-centred approaches, we drive positive behaviour change, strengthen community and health systems, and advocate at all levels to break the cycle of vulnerability.

Violence against children is a critical concern for the most vulnerable girls and boys everywhere that World Vision works. Children who experience violence are often left with long-lasting negative social, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual consequences.

At World Vision, we focus on preventing violence against children from happening in the first place, responding to violence when it does occur, and restoring children who have been affected. 

We use a systems approach to address root causes of violence against girls and boys, by empowering key actors to work together to strengthen a protective environment that cares for and supports all children, especially the most vulnerable girls and boys.

Across Asia and the Pacific, an estimated 500 million people live in multidimensional poverty, lacking access to basic education, healthcare and sustainable livelihoods. Over the next decade, it is projected that climate-related shocks will drive an estimated

325 million additional people, many in already fragile and poor contexts, deeper into extreme poverty.

Child poverty has long-term implications for their overall well-being. These include poor psychosocial and physical health, malnutrition, lack of education, social exclusion, and limited future employment opportunities. Children may be exposed to more violence, such as child labour and child marriage, as families and caregivers face economic difficulties. 

World Vision is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by equipping vulnerable families with the resources, knowledge and opportunities needed to build lasting economic resilience. In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), we strive to end poverty in all its forms by 2030 to help the most vulnerable children to reach their full potential.

World Vision advocates environmental stewardship and invests in climate solutions to minimise negative impacts. Children can help the environment in various ways. They can clean up, conserve resources, and plant trees. These activities also teach them the importance of taking care of the Earth.

Gender inequality and social exclusion contribute to inequitable outcomes between people in every context. 

Accelerating gender equality and social inclusion requires numerous approaches, including supporting the empowerment of marginalised populations at pivotal points in their lives. It requires partnering with organisations of persons with disabilities and women and girl-led organisations and engaging faith leaders and communities to champion gender equality and social inclusion.

We work with partners towards the well-being of children and their families to influence five domains of change: well-being, access, participation and decision-making as well as influencing systems to ensure equal outcomes and opportunities for all people, regardless of gender, disability or other social status.
