In response to ongoing challenges in accessing essential public services, including health, education, water, sanitation, social protection, and food security, Mozambique is hosting a three-day National Conference focused on “Access to Public Services: Duties and Human Rights.”

Organized by World Vision Mozambique in collaboration with civil society organizations, government entities, national and international NGOs, and academic institutions, the conference will create a transparent and inclusive platform for dialogue and multisectoral evaluation of public service delivery across the country.

“In fact, our expectation, as World Vision Mozambique, is that the reflections and discussions that will take place will result in a movement that contributes to strengthening current efforts and actions so that access to public services is perceived, embraced, and translated into practice as part of the duties and rights to which they are rooted” Maria Carolina, World Vision Mozambique Country Director.

Over the course of the event, participants will share their expertise and experiences in promoting social development, shaping public policy, and investing in sustainable, community-driven solutions. The conference will feature thematic panels led by national experts in key areas such as health, education, nutrition, water access, social protection, climate change, gender-based violence, and social inclusion.

These discussions will critically assess missed opportunities and systemic weaknesses that hinder Mozambique’s progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

A key outcome of the conference will be the mapping of commitments and actionable recommendations based on previous evaluations of Mozambique’s public service sectors. Special attention will be given to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations, particularly children, and identifying mechanisms to ensure the implementation of these recommendations.
