World Vision signs partnership with National Social Service of Ukraine

A Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation was recently National Social Service of Ukraine (NSSU) represented by Vasyl Lutsyk, the Head of the National Social Service of Ukraine, Chris Palusky, World Vision’s Ukraine Crisis Response (UCR) Director, and Catherine Green, World Vision’s Ukraine Country Director.

UCR Response Director Chris Palusky hailed the partnership as a positive step towards supporting the Ukraine government’s efforts and commitment for the well-being and protection of children and providing legal and social services to the most vulnerable population of the country, especially the children and youth.

NSSU Head Vasyl Lutsyk expressed his gratitude and commitment towards the realization of the policies aimed at improving the children’s well-being, open educational opportunities and provide psychosocial initiatives to ensure their bright future despite the challenges.

The parties, during the signing ceremony, have highlighted the spirit of trust, respect, and mutual responsibility in working together towards addressing the humanitarian issues faced by the children, youth, and families in Ukraine.

The agreement further will provide opportunities for NSSU and World Vision to have joint activities, learning events, share platforms that will be mutually beneficial with one common goal of promoting the rights of children.

The National Social Service of Ukraine is a central executive agency, which is directed and coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and which implements state policy in the field of social protection of the population, protection of children's rights, state control of social support and observance of children's rights.

The agency’s main tasks include social protection of the population, rehabilitation and recreation, adoption and protection of children's rights, state control of the provision of social services, ensuring and coordinating the activities of local governments, administrative service centers, social work centers, and the provision of basic social services.

World Vision’s humanitarian work for Ukrainian population impacted by the crisis is moving to its second year and has reached over 1.5 million people in Ukraine, Romania, Moldova and Georgia, over half of these are children. It’s operations in Ukraine has reached nearly a million people through the support of 17 local and international partners.
