Goal and objectives

The “No Drugs! Food Hub - A sustainable development alternative for youth and communities in Librazhd” project is funded by the European Union and implemented by Librazhd Municipality in Collaboration with World Vision Albania.

The objective of the project is to eliminate and prevent cultivating illicit drugs through sustainable rural economic development measures that improve the overall quality of life and security of its citizens. The project aims to render communities, state structures, agricultural directorate, civil society, village elders, women and youth proactive in making use of positive decent, licit models of income generation.

Local rural products are of great quality and in high demand because of its organic qualities but producers face challenges in getting their products to market. Building the Food Hub, raising awareness of farmers to produce for selling and building the capacity of youth to start-up licit income generating activities as family businesses are the three main pillars of the action.

Key actions

Through the Food Hub, a network among these key groups will be established to connect potential farmers, who are then able to maximise their benefits and progressively expand their family businesses through entrepreneurship that will ensure more employability opportunities. This network will also identify youth and women in the areas most prone to illicit activities, expose them and create awareness on positive alternatives and support youth and women to start-up family businesses.
