Feel Confident to be The Health Promotors

Tuberculosis (TBC) is an infectious disease usually caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. This disease is very dangerous for children and infant. Several parties in South Nias have not focused on TBC. People do not aware of the cause and prevention, especially for villagers.

According to this condition, Wahana Visi Indonesia (WVI) initiated to make a movement about TBC, by giving a medical checkup and giving anthelmintic. This event was held on August collaborated with Public Health Center of Bawomataluo, South Nias Regency by giving counseling between promotor and students.

The students were very enthusiast to know more about TBC disease. They also excited to reshare about the knowledge they’ve already get. One of them is Moses (9yo).

Moses is one of WVI of South Nias representative. He is in 4th grade. He started to explain the content in front of the class. Slow but sure, he becomes more confident to share knowledge about TBC disease.

Moses was helped by one of his friend. They give a counseling by using styrofoam as a prop. The basic information about TBC such as the cause, infection, prevention and how to cough properly was stated in the styrofoam.

The classmate of Moses also gave him support. They made an attention to Moses. So then, Moses could give the best explanation to them with confidence

”Coughing continuously more than two weeks, chest pain, and shortness of breath, no appetite, weight loss, frequent fever, and night sweats without activity are signs of people suffering from tuberculosis,” Moses explained.

The children then get a morning snack after the activity and close the whole series by praying before going home.
