In partnership with World Vision, a group of women from ZONTA International District 31 crossed the border from Taiwan to Lao.

In Lao PDR the women learned about Lao culture, saw the impact of World Vision’s work in Pakou project area, Luangpabang province, and visited the school building construction that was funded by the group.

The school building construction is on schedule, at 30% complete. The children look forward to studying in the new building next semester.

“I hope the new school will be more convenient and safe for the children to study because the current building is too small for 96 children," says Mr. Ounheun, the school director of Houylae village shared.

The building was old with bamboo walls and a leaking roof.

ZONTA International is committed to providing funding to help build five classrooms building which will help the kids learn in a safe environment.

The Director of ZONTA International said, “This is the first batch of funds and we hope to provide additional funds to buy the textbooks, provide teaching materials, as well as support teacher training in order to help improve the quality of education.”

“For me, I want to be an English teacher when I grow up because I want to teach children in my village,” Sida added.
