School reconstruction in Quake Zone on track
“Every journey must start with a first step,” said Randall Tobias USAID Deputy Secretary for Foreign Assistance in Pakistan, “In this ground-breaking ceremony today, we mark the first step in an initiative that will ultimately rebuild dozens of schools and health facilities across the earthquake-affected region”, he continued.
The government and all the international agencies will take part in reconstruction work Since last November, pupils of the boys school had been continuing their education in World Vision tents. When USAID announced they were to reconstruct the Boys High School, World Vision teams partnered in the project by clearing the 4,200 cubic feet of rubble partnership with the local community under the World Vision Cash for Work Project.
The Seron Valley pupils were also able to undertake their secondary school examines this spring in the World Vision school tents.
Gul-i-Afshan World Vision Pakistan Assistant Livelihoods Manager was invited to be the master of ceremonies by USAID in the ground-breaking ceremony in which a one minute silence was observed in the memory of Mian Ishfaq, the school student who died in the earthquake and others who lost their lives. The surviving school students presented national songs.
