EAST ASIA
AT A GLANCE
For decades, World Vision has partnered with communities across East Asia to improve the well-being of children, especially the most vulnerable.
Today, we work across diverse contexts, from remote rural villages and rapidly growing urban centres to communities affected by conflict, migration, and climate-related disasters. Our approach combines community-led development, humanitarian response, advocacy, research, and partnership to create sustainable change.

Protecting children from harm and safeguarding their rights
Child Protection
Every child deserves to grow up safe, protected, and free from harm. In 2025, World Vision reached 1.4 million people through child protection programmes that strengthened families, communities, schools, and government systems. From positive parenting initiatives to national child protection frameworks, we worked alongside partners to prevent violence, improve reporting and referral systems, and ensure children receive the care and protection they need.
Capacity Statement >>
Safe Migration
Migration is reshaping childhood across East Asia. As families move in search of safety, work, and opportunity, children often face increased risks of exploitation, trafficking, and interrupted education. In 2025, World Vision reached 111,511 people through safe migration initiatives that promoted legal identity, child protection, awareness, and safer pathways for migrant children and families.

Unlocking every child's potential through education and opportunities
Education
Across East Asia, World Vision reached more than 523,000 people through programmes that improved access to quality learning, strengthened literacy, supported early childhood development, and helped children continue learning during crises. Whether through inclusive education, community learning initiatives, or temporary learning spaces, we are helping children gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to build brighter futures.
Our Education Programme >>
Food Security & Livelihoods
World Vision reached more than 1 million people across East Asia through food security and livelihoods programmes. By strengthening climate-smart agriculture, market access, financial inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods, we are helping vulnerable families improve nutrition, increase incomes, and build resilience for the future.
Disaster Risk Reduction & Climate Change Adaptation
Climate change is one of the greatest threats to children's futures. In 2025, World Vision reached 329,599 people across East Asia through climate resilience and disaster risk reduction programmes. Working alongside communities, we promoted climate-smart agriculture, ecosystem restoration, clean energy, sustainable livelihoods, waste management, and disaster preparedness, helping vulnerable families strengthen resilience while protecting children from the growing impacts of climate change.

Children Leading Change
Children are not just participants in development. They are leaders of change.
Across East Asia, young people raised their voices on issues including climate action, child protection, migration, and online safety. Through initiatives such as Young Minds CAMP, they engaged with policymakers, regional institutions, and global platforms to influence decisions that affect their futures.
Their ideas, experiences, and leadership continue to shape stronger solutions for children across the region.
Inclusion for Every Child
Lasting change is only possible when everyone is included. Across our programmes, we work to ensure that women, girls, children with disabilities, and marginalised groups can access opportunities, services, and support.
Through our Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion approach, communities are challenging harmful norms, strengthening participation, and creating more equitable futures for all children.
Research Driving Change
UNCOVERING CHILD VULNERABILITY IN EAST ASIA
In 2025, World Vision East Asia partnered with the Institute for Economics and Peace to publish Behind the Averages: Uncovering Child Vulnerability in East Asia.
Using the Multidimensional Child Vulnerability Index, the research highlights how poverty, conflict, climate change, and exclusion intersect to shape children's lives, providing critical insights to strengthen programmes, policy, and advocacy.
Advocacy Impact
Creating lasting change means strengthening the systems that shape children's lives. In 2025, World Vision contributed to 206 policy changes across East Asia, benefiting an estimated 34 million children. By working alongside communities, governments, and partners, we helped improve policies on child protection, nutrition, education, and public services, creating impact that extends far beyond our direct programmes.
