Young Minds CAMP

Voices Beyond Border

“We want to be engaged in processes and project concepts for us.”

Listening to Children and Young People in East Asia, 2023 April

World Vision East Asia believes that children and young people can play a significant role as agents of transformation with the capability to engage in decision-making processes, in accordance with their evolving capacities and gradually increasing autonomy. When children and young people learn to communicate opinions, take responsibility and make decisions, they develop a sense of belonging, justice, accountability, and solidarity. We intentionally strengthen child participation in three key domains: programming, advocacy, and World Vision's decision-making.

Young Minds CAMPers represented children in their respective countries to present their climate change and food security concerns and recommendations to international development partners and NGO representatives during the ENOUGH Luncheon Dialogue held on June 7, 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Why

Young Minds CAMP?

Young Minds CAMP seeks to nurture young committed leaders with the right values as the foundation of the training to equip them to serve with humility and advocate with love. It will lead and equip young minds with the right knowledge and skills to explore and embrace their limitless potential. Young Minds CAMP will prepare young leaders to take on the global stage in advancing their child-led initiatives and advocacy efforts for the well-being of children in East Asia.

Young Minds CAMP is also an opportunity for young leaders to learn, grow, lead, serve and positively impact their communities. It will amplify their voices and motivate young leaders to take initiative, meaningfully engage in decision-making processes and propose child-led solutions for issues that affect them.

Faces of Young Minds CAMP

Our Young Minds CAMP brings together young leaders from across East Asia who are already creating change in their communities. Meet some of the inspiring voices of Young Minds CAMP and hear, in their own words, why meaningful child participation matters.

They are making their voices heard.

From intergenerational dialogues to regional and global stages, Young Minds CAMPers have been boldly presenting their perspectives and recommendations on critical issues such as climate change, hunger, malnutrition, migration, and civil registration. This showcases their skills in research and advocacy, and affirmed their role as advocates for sustainable development in their communities.

Child-Led Research

Young Minds CAMP empowers children not only to participate in research, but to lead it. From climate change to disaster preparedness, this platform equips young researchers to investigate the issues that matter most to them. Their child-led studies bring forward evidence, lived experiences, and practical recommendations to help build safer and more resilient communities, because those closest to the challenges are also part of the solution.

Their Stories in Painting

Paintings can say what words sometimes cannot. Created during Young Minds CAMP, these artworks capture children's reflections on migration, food security, and the experiences of young people across East Asia. Each piece offers a unique perspective, inviting us to see the world through the eyes of the children who live it.

Join us in growing future leaders.
