In the Campozano Parrish, in Manabi, a province in the Coast of Ecuador, lives Luis Angel, a 10-years-old sponsored child supported by the Campozano Area Development Programme, funded by World Vision Australia.

He attends the Padre Solano school “My favorite subject is Science because they teach me about the environment and about how my body works and many other interesting things,” says Luis Miguel who also enjoys playing soccer and studying hard.

My best friend is Luigi and he is 12, we like to play together and we help each other in Mathematics; when I grow I would love to study Architecture to build beautiful houses,

shares with joy little Luis Angel.

His parents are separated; his mom lives in Spain and his dad abandoned him to go to another city. “I do miss my mom. I’d love to give her a hug and share my time with her. I can only talk with her once a week for about an hour. I know I have three little brothers called Ken, Deri and Steve. I don’t know them though…” he said losing his smile for a while.

Angel Baque and Isabel Reyes, Luis Angel’s grandparents have been taking care of him “For me, he is more than a grandson, he is like my own child. I have taken care of him since he was a baby,” says Isabel with proud in her voice. “He has been involved in World Vision’s sponsorship for about three years and we have seen a change in his life. He is more respectful, responsible and we can see his health has improved too,” she ends.

Luis Angel has participated in different workshops about values organized by World Vision. His grandmother can see a difference in his attitudes at home, “He was a spoiled little boy, but now he helps with some house chores and shares with us more often”.

“I love my grandparents and I know I would never leave them,” says Luis Angel to her grandmother as she shares her fear that he would go in search of his dad. She only hopes that Luis Angel becomes a successful, responsible and respectful professional.
