World Vision Kenya‘s Education and Child Protection Sector Goals
- Strengthen household and institutions’ capacity to nurture and protect children from abuse and all forms of violence
- Improve access to quality Early Childhood Developments by for children aged 4-5 years
- Improve literacy & numeracy skills among children aged 6-13 year
Our Impact
- Birth certificates issued to 3,353 boys and 3,468 girls
- 32 classrooms constructed and 1,542 desks supplied improving learning infrastructure in schools in partnership with community members and other stakeholders
- 9,916 children (4,080 boys and 5,836 girls) received life skills training through children’s clubs enabling them to engage in development of their communities
- 8,303 community members engaged in community dialogues through Channels of Hope Child Protection and Gender community change to address deep socio-cultural and religious issues that expose to risk and violence
- 1,330 children’s voices were amplified through children’s assemblies
- Through the Accelerating Core Competencies for Effective Wheelchair Service and Support (ACCESS) project, World Vision supported children and adults with disabilities to acquire 913 wheelchairs. Having a wheelchair enables social inclusion through mobility for children to attend school, while adults are able to engage in work and other income generating enterprises
- More girls opted to undergo alternative rites of passage as opposed to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) as a result of enhanced community action on declaring support to ending FGM which is a conduit to child marriage in Kajiado, Samburu, Narok, West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet and Baringo Counties. This was in collaboration with the anti-Female Genital Mutilation Board, UNICEF and UNFPA
