
Wakuma Tadesse currently serves as Finance Director, bringing extensive experience in grants financial management within international NGOs, including Save the Children USA, Christian Aid, and World Vision Ethiopia, where he has served since July 2017. He also has prior experience in Auditing and compliance management within financial institutions.
During his tenure at World Vision Ethiopia, Wakuma has held the position of Associate Director of Grants Finance and Acquisition Management at the Head Office. In this role, he has led the financial management of grants funded by major institutional donors such as ECHO, UNOCHA, UNICEF, WFP, USG, EU, GAC, and others. He has successfully overseen the full project lifecycle of multiple complex grants and provided strategic financial leadership during major humanitarian crisis responses, including the Southern Ethiopia Crisis (Gedio–Guji IDP) and the Northern Ethiopia crisis response (Tigray, Amhara & Afar).
Wakuma has managed numerous complex donor and statutory audits, consistently achieving clean audit outcomes. He has made significant contributions to strengthening grant financial management systems at the national office level. He played a key role in the adoption of IPSAS at World Vision Ethiopia in line with statutory requirements and led the national office asset revaluation process, resulting in substantial cost savings for the organisation.
Wakuma has participated in various international leadership trainings in the United Kingdom and the United States to further strengthen his leadership and governance capabilities. He holds a professional qualification as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA, UK) and a certificate in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). He is also a member of the Ethiopian Certified Public Accountants Association and actively engages in local professional finance networks.
Currently, Wakuma leads the financial management of diverse donor-funded grants and sponsorship programs, with a strong commitment to financial governance, operational excellence, efficiency, and collaborative partnership.
Wakuma is married to Gete Geleta, and they are blessed with five children: Bekan, Robsan, Segni, Moti, and their adopted daughter, Lelise Bekele. He is a member of the Ethiopian Full Gospel Church and worships at Betel Muluwongel Church.
