Education as a Long-Term Investment for Development

With a 4.4 billion population and growing economies, Asia is predicted to hold 51 percent of the global gross domestic product by 2050. This statement was released by the Asian Development Bank in its “Asia 2050: Realizing the Asian Century” report. The same report also predicted that Asia would be the world’s economic leader in the future with as many as 3 billion people enjoying the same standard of living as Europeans.
Of course, the prediction was followed by an “if,” as in if governments decide to invest in education.
