Easter Sunday

It is Easter Sunday! We give thanks for Jesus Christ dying on the cross for the sins of the world and conquering death through the resurrection on Sunday morning. Today we celebrate the gift of new life that God has given us!

These past six weeks as we reflected on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, we have found Him and ourselves in the stories of the “the least of these”—the hungry and thirsty, the stranger and unclothed, the sick and imprisoned. This journey of discovering the brokenness in our world has lead us to the purpose and reason behind our hope, Easter Sunday.

This is the event that changed history and launched the growth of the Church. It spread from Jerusalem, through Samaria and Judea, and throughout the Roman Empire. It is still spreading today as God’s Kingdom grows, often in small ways, by caring for “the least of these” through feeding the hungry, quenching thirst, caring for the sick, welcoming strangers, clothing the naked and caring for human needs, visiting the prisoner and setting the oppressed free; through the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation between people and God; through proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom of God; through repentance and faith.

You have been part of this amazing journey during Lent – and the choice that lies before you is simply this: How will you continue on this adventure of faith through following Jesus?

EXPERIENCE

Revisit the letter you wrote on Ash Wednesday and reflect on what you wrote then as well as the experiences you had during the past six weeks. Take some time to write a new letter to yourself. What is one of the most impactful readings or actions you experienced during Lent? How has this journey changed you, your family or your small group? Looking forward, how do you feel God is calling you to continue caring for “the least of these” in your own community and around the world?

PRAY

Set aside some time today and this week to pray:

  • Thank God for sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and for the Resurrection of Christ.

  • Give thanks for this season of Lent and how God has worked in your life over the past six weeks.

  • Pray for those around the world in need — the hungry and thirsty, the stranger and unclothed, the sick and imprisoned. Ask God how you can continue to care for “the least of these” in your daily life.

Thank you for joining us on this Journey to Easter! We hope your Lenten and Easter season have been blessed through this experience.
