The Jubilee Year 2025 is a sacred moment of renewal - a time to restore hope, strengthen solidarity, and rekindle our shared humanity. Rooted in ancient biblical tradition, the Jubilee invites the world to return to the principles of justice, mercy, and restoration. It is a year when debts are forgiven, relationships are renewed, and communities are restored to right relationship with one another and with creation. Guided by the theme “Spes non confundit – Hope does not disappoint,” the Jubilee reminds all people that hope is both a gift and a responsibility.

In today’s world - marked by conflict, inequality, hunger, and ecological distress - the Jubilee Year offers a space for reflection and transformation. It calls on individuals, communities, and nations to reimagine systems that serve the common good, ensuring that peace, justice, and compassion become the foundations of social and economic life. It invites humanity to turn away from indifference and rediscover the divine call to care for one another and for the earth.

The Jubilee Year 2025 transcends faith boundaries, welcoming people of all traditions and convictions to act together for renewal. Across the globe, faith communities are leading dialogues, mobilisations, and partnerships that bring hope to life. From Rome to the regions, these gatherings celebrate faith as a force for good - turning spirituality into action, and belief into shared transformation.

This shared vision is made possible through the collaboration of faith-based and humanitarian partners working side by side to end hunger and build hope for every child. The following organisations represent the collective spirit of unity driving the Jubilee Year 2025 and its global engagements.

Faith Leaders Joint Statement

As part of the Jubilee Year 2025, faith-based organizations from diverse traditions have issued a joint statement affirming that food is a sacred human right. The statement calls for urgent global action to end hunger, malnutrition, and the injustices that sustain them. Faith leaders describe hunger in a world of abundance as a moral crisis, not just an economic one, requiring renewed commitment to justice and solidarity.

They urge governments to reallocate resources toward social protection, support smallholder farmers - especially women - and take decisive climate action to safeguard food systems. The call also highlights the need for debt relief, constitutional guarantees to the right to food, and meaningful participation of affected communities and children. Together, World Vision International, Caritas Internationalis, and the World Council of Churches invite all people of faith and goodwill to uphold every person’s right to food, dignity, and wellbeing.
