Storm Norma wrecks refugee homes

On Sunday, 6 January 2019 storm “Norma” battered Lebanon with snow, heavy rainfall, strong winds and very low temperatures. The heavy rain lead to serious flooding, erosions and road blockages across several areas in the country. 

361 sites have been affected and 11,301 people affected by either flooding, heavy snow or extreme cold and in need for core relief item and basic needs. To date, 151 informal settlements across the country have been heavily impacted. One child has been reported dead in Minieh, North of Lebanon due to the flooding of a river.

With the support of UNICEF, WVL has been responding to date in 28 informal tented settlements in the Bekaa, reaching more than 2,000 affected people in the past three days.
