World Vision International joins diverse Global Education Actors to Celebrate the International Day of Education
On January 24, 2026, World Vision a global Christian organisation with education programming focused on strengthening local-national-global systems for inclusive quality community-based education targeting most vulnerable children across the lifecycle and the development-humanitarian nexus, joined forces with diverse global education actors to celebrate the International Day of Education.
Under the theme “The power of youth in co-creating education”, celebrations at WV particularly emphasise the vital role of young people (girls and boys) in shaping formal and non-formal learning systems as well as advocating for inclusive, relevant, and learner-centred education service delivery.
I’ve seen the extraordinary power of education to multiply possibilities—children discovering the joy of reading, parents championing learning, teachers creating joyful lessons, and communities and governments working together for every child. When education takes root, hope expands. World Vision is proud to partner with the Global Partnership for Education and governments worldwide. I invite you to support GPE so we can multiply possibilities for millions more children. - Andrew Morley
As part of these celebrations, WV reflects on its key approaches for Positive Youth Development learning pathways to make meaning of its role in adolescent and youth engagement and empowerment:
- Impact+ (12-18 years old), an integrated active citizenship approach which holistically addresses key sectoral issues facing adolescents in an environment of peaceful relationships and supports them to co-create service-learning projects to address real community issues, while strengthening their life skills and access to further learning in both formal and non-formal spaces.
- Youth Ready (18+ years old) is an intervention that equips marginalised youth as positive agents of change in their own lives and communities, thereby empowering them for success in work and life and ultimately linking them to meaningful opportunities and support to take the next steps in their personal development.
Lastly, on this occasion, WVI leadership joined forces with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) to:
- Emphasise the importance of education in multiplying possibilities for young people, unlocking opportunities for decent work, promoting gender equality, and fostering inclusive societies
- Highlight the role of education in building a better world for everyone, regardless of background, gender, or ability
- Support GPE's replenishment campaign, which aims to mobilise $5 billion to unlock an additional $10 billion in co-financing to transform learning for 750 million children
- Call upon world leaders, private sector stakeholders, and philanthropists to invest in education, especially for those who need it most, and to ensure that quality, inclusive, and relevant education systems are backed with real resources and innovative financing.
