'Secure data takes everyone' - World Vision wins excellence in IT security award
For immediate release
International humanitarian agency World Vision last night won a prestigious award for its IT security at the InformationWeek IT Excellence Awards.
The awards recognise IT leaders and companies that demonstrate outstanding innovation in six different IT categories. World Vision, which operates in around 100 countries, had been shortlisted for the IT Excellence in Security category.
Ed Anderson, World Vision’s Global Chief Information Officer, who collected the award on behalf of the organisation said, “This award is a testament to everyone in our organisation who has supported information security; our IT teams across World Vision, but also all those staff who have taken security awareness training. It takes everyone to keep data secure.”
Al Lutz, the organisation’s Chief Information Security Officer, who is currently at the ICT4D Conference in Hyderabad, India said, “The cyber-attacks of the last week have demonstrated how seriously everyone should take data security and privacy. World Vision is always working to improve how it gathers, stores and uses data gleaned from its supporters, staff and beneficiaries. This award recognises our hard work and planning to date. Nevertheless, we continue to learn from our experiences and our peers so we can continually improve.”
This new awards programme replaces the InformationWeek Elite 100 rankings—a staple of the IT industry in the United States for nearly 30 years. Instead of ranking the top 100 innovators in IT, the awards recognise the top three companies in each of five technology categories, as well as an award for overall IT Excellence.
The other categories were IT Excellence in Infrastructure, IT Excellence in Cloud, IT Excellence in DevOps and IT Excellence in Data & Analytics. World Vision was the only non-profit to join companies including Fannie Mae and ConocoPhillips as award winners at UBM's flagship IT event, Interop ITX in Nevada on Tuesday 16 May, 2017.
