The report entitled “Supporting lives in transition: The role of Cash and Voucher Assistance (CVA) in refugee well-being and community resilience”, which was released ahead of World Refugee Day 2025, highlights the transformative impact of cash and voucher assistance (CVA) on Syrian and Ukrainian refugee families, showing that it significantly improves child well-being, economic stability, community cohesion, and mental health. Some key findings include:
- Three out of four families reported better outcomes for their children, particularly in nutrition, health, and education, with over half of Syrian refugees crediting CVA for enabling continued schooling.
- All households experienced improved financial stability, with women's income generation doubling.
- Community integration also improved, with over half reporting stronger relationships and increased participation in community life.
- Nearly all refugees noted enhanced mental well-being, with many requiring fewer coping mechanisms.
Despite these gains, systemic barriers like housing costs and limited job opportunities continue to hinder long-term progress. The report stresses the urgency of sustaining CVA programs amid global funding cuts to prevent refugees from slipping back into poverty and insecurity. Download it to learn more.
