Localisation
Localisation describes a broad multi-dimensional agenda including:
- “Shifting power” to put local actors (civil society and government) in the lead and ensuring that development and humanitarian activities are “locally-led”, including through:
- Capacity strengthening local actors and response systems.
- Ensuring equitable partnerships with local and national actors.
- Facilitating more direct funding to local and national actors.
- Ensuring local actors have an effective voice in coordination and policy forums.
- Promoting local and national NGO visibility.
- Ensuring accountability and responsiveness to communities.
As a child-focused organisation, serving some of the most vulnerable children across South Asia and the Pacific, we are committed to locally led development, humanitarian response and advocacy. We believe that sustainable child well-being depends on strong community voices (including men, women, youth, and children) and robust local and national government and civil society organisations.
World Vision South Asia and Pacific asked its partners about #Localisation and this is what they had to say about the matter!
Talking about Localisation
World Vision is honoured to have been able to host this side event together with ICVA at the 11th Asia Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development (APFSD). Join an honest and timely discussion on the localisation agenda.
