Expanding Paediatric Care in Cox’s Bazar

A Mother’s Fear, A Child’s Fight
One morning, a mother arrived at the hospital clutching her 7-year-old son, Mustafa*. Pale and weak, he could barely stand. Doctors quickly admitted him, diagnosing signs of anemia and ordering urgent tests. His mother waited outside, heart pounding with fear.
Thanks to rapid intervention, Mustafa began to recover. His story is one of many. Since opening in January 2024, the hospital has treated over 13,668 children—providing consultations, medicines, nutrition support, mental health counselling, and maternal education.
Built on Partnerships, Powered by Compassion
The hospital’s impact is driven by a powerful network of partners, united by a shared mission: to give every child a fair chance.
- Muslim Hands laid the foundation and continues to support staffing and operations.
- Save the Children expanded services in January 2025, adding nutritionists and mental health staff.
- Global One ensures steady supplies of essential medicines and logistics.
- In March 2025, World Vision introduced a multipurpose medical room, enabling on-site tests like hemoglobin checks and hepatitis screening.
“Having diagnostics on-site means we can act quickly saving time, stress, and lives,” says Dr. Yashna Binte Ishaq, who leads hospital operations.
A Game-Changer for Rural Families
The new medical room, with dedicated spaces for consultations and diagnostics, has transformed care delivery. Faster diagnoses mean fewer return visits, quicker treatment, and reduced anxiety for families traveling long distance
Looking ahead, the hospital plans to introduce more advanced diagnostics like complete blood counts and urinalysis—further improving care.
A Shared Dream, A Brighter Future
Cox’s Bazar Child Hospital is more than a clinic—it’s a testament to what collaboration can achieve. Supported by Baitush Sharaf Hospital, Global Unnayan Seba Sangstha (GUSS), and others, it brings hope to children from all walks of life.
Despite ongoing needs—including a paediatric consultant and more diagnostic tools—the vision remains clear: sustainable, inclusive healthcare for every child.
