Bringing Basic Services Closer to the Community in Mozambique During the First Legal Fair

In a courageous effort to address the difficult reality of large areas of Mozambique, World Vision- Mozambique in conjunction with the government held the first Legal fair, in Angonia District. Services that previously seemed out of reach were made available for more than 300 people, such as child registration, legal support, lectures, and assistance with cases of violence and early marriage.
Early in the morning, fathers, mothers and young people began to arrive. For many, it was the first time they could register a child without exhausting journeys or unaffordable costs. The community listened attentively to the lectures and showed relief at the legal services, especially in sensitive cases involving violence or early marriages, which were brought closer to them.
Celso, district prosecutor and coordinator of the reference group, reaffirmed with conviction: "We have to continue bringing services closer to the communities".
Frank, the district head nurse, brought a practical perspective to the idea: “When we bring services to the community, we shorten distances and people take better advantage of them. It's comprehensive, it's useful.”
Each consultation, each record, each attentive ear made the community and each child feel valued and welcomed. The initiative transformed not only the documents issued, but also renewed hopes and a tangible sense of justice.
This event in Lifidzi showed that, with will and coordinated action, it is possible to break down invisible barriers and ensure that rights are fully exercised. And at the end of the day, families and their children returned home not only with documents or advice, but with the certainty that they deserve respect and protection, and that this is within reach when services reach them.
World Vision proposes sustainable and transformative solutions aligned to the reality of each community, as a humane and responsible gesture to make the world a better place for children, community by community.
